Frequently Asked Questions

How are Lake Health races timed?

All timed races will be B-tag chip timed.  This method provides a disposable timing chip on the back of your race bib.  There is no need to return your bib or chip after the race.  Please note the Zombie Run is NOT a timed event.

Where can I see my results?

Race results will be posted LIVE to the Greater Cleveland XC and Lake Health Running Series websites.  Individual results will be posted and available within minutes of crossing the finish line.  Look for our results kiosk at all events to see your results on our big screen TVs right after you finish!

Are there pacing restrictions or a course cutoff time?

In general, all participants are welcome to take either course at their own pace (running, walking, or a combination).  Please note that participants walking at a considerably slower pace than the bulk of participants may be asked to move to the sidewalks at police discretion to allow city streets to reopen.  Longer distance events (half marathon or more) may have a cutoff time listed on a per-event basis; these are usually "soft" closures and will require participants to move to sidewalks if more time is needed.  More details will be listed on each longer distance event page.  We do our best to allow every participant to finish - if you think you may need more time, many of our events offer an early start wave to accommodate your pace.

How do I register for an event?

You can register online with a credit card.  Each event will have a registration link available on the race page.  If you would like to mail payment instead (cash/check), you can download a registration form from the same page.  Please make checks payable to Greater Cleveland XC and mail to: 8791 Mentor Ave, Mentor OH 44060.  Registration is also available in-person on race days, and some events offer early packet pickup times where registration will also be available.  Check the event listing for more details.

Is it safe to register online with a credit card?

Yes.  Greater Cleveland XC uses Athlinks’ Chronotrack registration system for online registration, which provides safe and secure payment processing.  Your payment information will be protected by Chronotrack.  Your personal information will be protected by Greater Cleveland XC; we collect this information to ensure we are able to provide you with the best possible race day experience, and will never sell or share your information with any third party.

Is there a processing fee for registering online?

Yes, Chronotrack registration includes a small credit card processing fee.  This fee goes directly to Chronotrack and allows them to continue providing top-quality online registration services; this money is not collected by Greater Cleveland XC nor St Malachi Parish.

Can I register my whole family/group at once?

Yes.  When registering online, you are able to add additional registrations to your cart before checking out.  If registering through the mail, please complete ONE FORM PER PERSON.  We require a waiver signed for each participant; incomplete registration forms will not be processed.

I did not receive a confirmation email, how do I know I am registered?

You can check your Athlinks account for ALL your currently registered races by signing in HERE.  If you are having any issues accessing your Athlinks account, you can verify your registration by emailing GCXC at: kelly@gcxcracing.com

What do I get with my registration?

All registered participants receive chip timing, fully supported courses, and various perks depending on the race.  Check the event page for specific swag, medals, etc that may be included with your registration for that event.

I would like to change race distances, am I able to do so?

Some of our races offer multiple distances.  Typically, yes, you can change your distance.  If you have not yet picked up your packet, you can change your distance via your Athlinks registration account by clicking HERE.  If you have already picked up your packet and want to change, please visit race day registration and ask for assistance there.

I can no longer participate in this event, what are my options?

You are able to transfer your registration to another person by clicking HERE; there is no fee to transfer.  Find your registration in your Athlinks account to find transfer instructions.  Providing full information for the person who will actually wear the bib during the race is very important.  In the event of an injury or other medical emergency, we need to know who you are and how to reach your emergency contact.  It is also important for the integrity of our results to have updated age/gender information for each participant.  We appreciate your understanding in handling bib transfers properly!

I can't find anyone to take my registration, can I get a refund or defer to next year?

In general, refunds are not available for races, but reasonable requests with ample notice will be considered.  We do allow deferrals to next year's event.  If you need a deferral or have a refund request, please contact GCXC: kelly@gcxcracing.com

I am registered but unable to attend, can I still get my shirt/swag?

Yes, you are able to pick up your items at any of the packet pickups (if available) prior to race day.  After the event, arrangements may be made to pick up at a Second Sole store depending on shirt size availability.  We DO NOT mail shirts or other unclaimed packet items.  Please contact GCXC if you would like to schedule a post-race pickup: kelly@gcxcracing.com

Some of my registration information is incorrect, how can I correct the errors?

Please contact GCXC with updated information: kelly@gcxcracing.com

Will packet pickup be available before the race?

Most races will have early packet pickup available at the Mentor Second Sole location.  Dates and times will be posted as soon as they are confirmed for each event.

I am not able to make it to a pre-race pickup, can I get my packet on race day?

Yes, race day registration and packet pickup will take place according to the event's schedule.

Can I register at packet pickup?

Yes, you can register in person at a packet pickup with cash or check.  Please note, online registration will still often be open during packet pickups - if you would like to register with a credit card, please do so online.  If an event is listed as sold out, we will NOT be able to accept race day registrations or packet pickup registrations unless otherwise noted.

The race I wanted to run is sold out, can I still run it?

Our races sell out when we reach the maximum amount of race swag that was ordered in advance.  We prefer to have every participant receive the items promised with registrations, so once we hit our maximum we close registration and do not accept additional runners.  Unless otherwise noted, a sold out race will NOT accept additional registrations.

I picked up my packet in advance, but lost or forgot my bib on race day, what do I do?

A new bib can be assigned to you on race morning, please attend race-day registration to receive a new bib.

Can I run with my stroller?

Yes, strollers are allowed at most of our races.  Please consider your pace when lining up for the start - slower runners and walkers to the rear for your safety and the safety of all participants.  If the venue does not allow strollers, it will be noted on the race page.

Can I run with my dog?

For the safety of you, your dog, and other runners, dogs are strongly discouraged from attending our events.  Some venues prohibit animals as well, so we ask that you leave your dog at home.

Can I wear headphones on the course?

Yes, headphones are allowed on our courses.  Please be courteous to runners around you: keep your volume low enough that you are able to hear passers or any course instructions given by volunteers.

I won an award but was unable to stay to claim it, what are my options?

Unclaimed awards can be picked up at Second Sole Mentor by arrangement only.  Please contact GCXC to make arrangements: kelly@gcxcracing.com  We encourage you to check your results at the live results kiosk TVs after you finish to see if you won an award before heading out.  Unclaimed awards will NOT be mailed.

Will race photos be available?

Yes, all race day photos will be available on Facebook for FREE after the race!  Finish line photos will be posted and automatically tagged with your bib number on your Athlinks results page.
